Vienna’s Living Lab

17:15 - 17:45

One of the biggest urban development projects in Europe takes form in Vienna, reframing what it means to do city-making with a collaborative approach.

In Vienna’s 22nd district, aspern Seestadt emerges as one of Europe’s most ambitious urban development projects: a vibrant city-within-a-city designed to host over 25,000 residents and create thousands of new jobs through a phased development into the next decade. This smart city is founded on innovative urban concepts that blend high-quality living with economic vitality, fostering a place that welcomes diversity and offers something for every phase of life.

Seestadt unites mixed uses, excellent transportation links, and future-oriented planning to become a dynamic hub for business and living, with a strong sense of community and wellbeing. The project, led by the City of Vienna in partnership with public and private stakeholders under the development agency Wien 3420 AG, emphasizes cooperation for top-tier urban design and sustainability.

More than a conventional expansion, aspern Seestadt redefines urban life by integrating residential, commercial, and green spaces into a cohesive, smart, and safe environment. It supports Vienna’s 22nd district, the surrounding area, and the wider Central European region as a nucleus for innovation, connection, and quality of life—a forward-looking exemplar of European urbanism and a compelling place to live, work, and invest.”

The six-person communications team of aspern Seestadt is led by Ingrid Spörk . With the company since 2018, the experienced communications manager and her team coordinate PR, marketing & communications, events, visitor management, impulse usage, and sponsorship. She also serves as media spokesperson for Wien 3420 and Seestadt. She already gained Seestadt experience from 2008 to 2015 as head of the agency team that supported Seestadt from its brand development onward.
