Visiting Urban Explorer #3
14:30 - 14:45
Photographer Eleni Albarosa arrives in Turin to take part in the original urban exploration program created by Stratosferica for the first editions of the festival. Four days discovering the city without guides or advice, visiting it independently and uncovering its identity. On the fifth day, she takes to the festival stage to share her ideas for a better city.
Born in Greece and raised in Italy, Eleni Albarosa (Athens, 1996) began photographing at fifteen, the same year she was first published by National Geographic Italy. She is mainly interested in exploring social realities marred by prejudice, misinformation or harmful stereotypes. This passion stems from her long standing practice as a photographer and nurtured by her bachelor studies in Anthropology. Her work has led her to explore nomadic circus life, Rom communities in Italy and Greece, Irish Travellers in the UK, and many others. She has also collaborated in different photo projects and has been published among others by National Geographic USA (2024), Billboard (2024), Huck Magazine (2023) and Overseas Magazine (2021), Nike (2021). In 2024, she launched La Ternura es Radical, a project on former prisoners turned actors in Mexico City, in collaboration with anthropologist Jorge Varela Perera. The project was edited by Magnum Photos photographers Nikos Economopoulos and Jerome Sessini and earned her the Canon Student Development Program award in Perpignan (2024) as well as selection for the Hamburg Portfolio Reviews. In 2025, she was named one of ARTPIL’s 30 Under 30 Women Photographers.
