Here Soon: Europe’s Gigafactory

Here Soon: Europe’s Gigafactory

Scarmagno, Electric Mobility Capital. Italvolt's plan is to build the largest car battery factory here by 2024. Word to the company investing 30 minutes from Turin.
In Scarmagno, on the outskirts of Ivrea, Italvolt is working to open its car battery production plant by 2024. The plant, under construction on an old Olivetti site, will be one of the largest gigafactories on the continent.
Will the next European centre of electric mobility be just a few kilometres from Turin? To go beyond the news, the festival is hosting Lars Carlstrom and Darya Deliyeva, the Swedish entrepreneur at the helm of the initiative, already a protagonist with the Britishvolt experience, and the project manager of Italvolt.
If Berlin has Tesla’s industry, Piedmont hopes to become competitive again in the mobility macro-sector. Italvolt’s investment in lithium-ion technology promises to employ around three thousand people. The 300,000-square-metre industry project is being overseen by Pininfarina Architettura.
At Utopian Hours Carlstrom and Deliyeva will take on the challenges Olivetti also faced in the past and how they are resolving them through design and work with the local community. Also, they will dedicate time to explain their view of battery production and the connections with the circular economy.
