Antonio Zappulla

CEO, Thomson Reuters Foundation

Antonio Zappulla is the CEO of Thomson Reuters Foundation, the philanthropic branch of one of the biggest news agencies in the world. He studied journalism, Islam and the Middle East and then covered economics for the Italian news agency ANSA, before moving to Bloomberg Television as an executive producer. 

Antonio is the founder of Openly, the first platform in the world dedicated to a rightful and impartial coverage of LGBTQ+ stories through the international distribution provided by Reuters. In 2018 he entered in the OUTstanding List published by the Financial Times, a power list of the most influential LGBTQ+ executives and gay leaders of the future. He is also a member of “All Out”, of the International News Safety Institute (INSI) and is part of the “OUT in Business” board of the London Business School, advocating for a more inclusive job market. 

Zappulla is a One Young World ambassador and collaborates with the World Economic Forum. Between 2016 and 2017 he has been recognised as a young Italian and European talent by the Italian Chamber of Commerce and by the Friends of Europe think tank.
