Balancing Nature and Tech: A New Urban Revolution
16:45 - 17:15
Main Stage / Rooftop Level
Baharash Bagherian aims to transform contemporary cities into people-centred ecosystems, striking a balance between nature, culture and technology. Through large-scale projects such as The Sustainable City Yiti in Oman and Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, the URB studio aims to set new global standards for eco-sustainable urban development.
At the heart of Bagherian’s research lies the aim of creating the ‘20-minute city’ even in complex contexts. A goal embodied by his most recent masterplans for the Emirates: from the rethinking of active mobility with The Loop — presented at Utopian Hours 2023 and which received significant media coverage — to the impressive ecological regenerations of Dubai Mangroves and Dubai Green Spine. Concrete visions that aim to definitively redefine the relationship between metropolises and their natural environment.
Urb is reshaping our urban landscapes with its vision for sustainable and human-centered design. A new standards for eco-conscious urban development.
Bagherian’s unwavering commitment to balancing nature, culture, and technology in his designs has positioned him as a luminary in the field, inspiring a future where cities harmonize with their natural environments. More exciting projects are on the horizon, like The Loop, through which he wants to change urban mobility in Dubai, to make it a 20-minute city.
