Imandeep Kaur, Ashoka Fellow and co-founder of CIVIC SQUARE in Birmingham, takes the Utopian Hours stage to show how citizens can become the true stewards of their own neighbourhoods.
Co-founder of Impact Hub Birmingham and a member of Kate Raworth’s Doughnut Economics Action Lab advisory team, Kaur has spent over a decade challenging extractive investment models. Through CIVIC SQUARE — a participatory platform and street-level neighbourhood lab — she puts Doughnut Economics into practice: from street-level energy retrofits (Retrofit Reimagined) to shared local resources, building democratic, distributed civic infrastructure.
Co-founder and Director of CIVIC SQUARE in Birmingham, a neighbourhood lab and creative platform focused on building regenerative civic and social infrastructure. For over a decade, Kaur has explored the role of citizens in radical systemic change, challenging extractive investment models to demonstrate how communities can design, own, and steward the neighbourhoods of the future.
