Temporary outposts, libraries and reactivated spaces: the city’s new social infrastructure.

Third places are the spaces that are neither home nor work: you meet without an appointment, you stay without having to spend. This is where a community forms. Libraries, cafés and reactivated buildings act as social glue, strengthening a sense of collectivity that today is increasingly fragmented. The Utopian Hours roundtable looks at how these spaces are designed and how they are run, with an eye on the social and economic impact they can generate.
