Simple Solutions, High Impact: Reconnecting People and Public Spaces
14:30 - 15:00
Main Stage / Rooftop Level
When the temporary use of spaces gives the city back to its inhabitants. For the Ten Years Edition of Utopian Hours, Zala Velkavrh brings her collective’s latest visions to the stage in Rotterdam.
Prostorož’s approach is based on targeted initiatives: streets transformed into squares, disused buildings given a new lease of life, and neglected green spaces brought back onto the city map through temporary interventions. These are tactical, adaptable and bespoke solutions, designed to strengthen local communities and demonstrate how low-impact interventions can have a lasting effect on urban dynamics.
As Project Manager at Prostorož — a non-profit urban design studio based in Ljubljana — Zala Velkavrh has spent the last ten years leading projects that unlock the untapped potential of public space. Founded in 2004, the collective now operates through an interdisciplinary team of architects and social scientists, ensuring a multidimensional approach to the complexities of city-making.
