Roundtable #5
Can a City be a Destination?

Cities toward new attraction models. How? A discussion on experiences, places, and strategies aimed at envisioning the path toward a contemporary approach to tourism.
As long as we continue to conceive of tourism as a way to attract visitors, we will witness the growing irritation of those who live in the most popular places. It’s time for the tourism sector to reflect and find a new balance between international competition and the consequences of over-tourism — from massive branding campaigns to water fights, as seen in Barcelona. What models should we envision? From which places should we take inspiration?
Utopian Hours provides an opportunity for international professionals to delve into a discussion aimed at developing new models for sustainable tourism. This vision goes beyond mere words, focusing on creating a destination that balances attractiveness with quality of life while preserving authenticity. Meanwhile, Turin has embarked on a new initiative called VivaCITY —supported by Simpleview— launched by the international network City Destinations Alliance, which connects tourism offices and convention bureaus across Europe. This initiative aims for a “progressive and holistic change” in the city experience.

Closed-door roundtable in collaboration with Turismo Torino e Provincia reserved for Full Professional Pass holders and participants invited by Stratosferica. To participate in the roundtables, purchase the Full Professional Pass.
