The Park as a Medium
Open, democratic, inclusive but above all green spaces. Urban parks -and the pandemic has made this clear- are today a great resource for greater liveability in the city. But how exactly does an urban park work?
In this Utopian Hours Sunday panel we present some national and international experiences that have become real case studies. Innovative and bold projects that focus on urban ecology and greenery to unite communities and develop new forms of public-private collaboration.
The panel brings different organisations and projects on the same stage to show that it is possible to take care of a part of the city and regenerate it by following different approaches.
Kelly Russel —Head of Sustainability & Communication at COIMA and Managing Director of the Catella Foundation— will talk about the vision behind BAM, the botanical garden and cultural hub in the heart of Milan, with Francesca Colombo General and Cultural Director of BAM. With her on the Centrale stage will be the activators of Agrocité, a civic engagement project that puts urban agriculture at the forefront.
Stratosferica will also participate in the debate, recounting the recent developments of the Precollinear Park, the organisation’s first placemaking project selected as a finalist for the New European Bauhaus Prizes 2022.
The panel will open with a video testimony by Ana C. Traverso-Krejcarek, Senior Manager of The High Line Network. She will talk about how the people behind the world’s most famous urban park deal with civic participation, climate change and urban innovation.
