Future-proof architecture. UNstudio exposed

Future-proof architecture. UNstudio exposed

In operation for the past 35 years, UNstudio is among the most innovative and internationally recognised architectural practices.
Born at the end of the 1980s from the vision of a lecturer at TU Delft (Ben van Berkel) and an art historian (Caroline Bos), today the studio has six offices and more than three hundred employees including planners and designers. Amsterdam, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Frankfurt.
The firm’s cultural roots are those of 1980s London and the AAArchitectural Association. Architecture conceived as an intellectual commitment, as research and a theme on which to base an intense journalistic activity. Berkel and Bos were among the first to bring to the Netherlands the names of architects and designers who would later acquire international fame: from Zaha Hadid to Coop Himmelblau.
At Utopian Hours 2023, co-founder Caroline Bos will talk about the design philosophy behind their work as urban designers, trying to answer a crucial question: what role will architects play in defining the urban scenarios of the future?
