Visiting Urban Explorer #3
The third Urban Explorer comes from Munich: New Ideas for Turin from a street photographer.
The Urban Exploration program (Visiting Urban Explorer) is one of the most appreciated content of Utopian Hours. The format is inspired by artist residencies and invites three young experts —for the first time in Turin— to freely explore the city. Their task is to propose ideas, insights, and suggestions for imagining new, possible urban solutions.
In 2024, the VUEs (this is the acronym) will all be photographers. They will explore Turin to capture, through their images, the phenomena, cultures, dynamics, and potential of the lesser-known areas in the city. At the end of their exploration, they will jump on stage to share the key findings from their time in the city.
Oliver Krumes will be the third and final Urban Explorer for the 2024 edition. After years of international missions —Asia, China, Japan, Myanmar, Korea— Krumes will visit Turin for the first time, documenting the untapped potential of the city through his lens.
The Visiting Urban Explorer format is part of Urban Frame, a project funded by the “Torino, che cultura!” grant and born from the collaboration between Stratosferica and Camera – the Italian Center for Photography.
