Lars Carlstrom is the Founder and Chief Executive of Italvolt and Statevolt. Italvolt is planning to build a 45 GwH battery production facility in Piedmont, Italy at the former Olivetti industrial site.

The Italvolt project will be Italy’s largest independent battery cell factory, and will create new opportunities for re-skilling and upskilling workers who have experience in the rich heritage of Italian automotive. Italvolt is supporting the green industrialisation of Italy, and Europe, more widely, by delivering the battery cells which will help drive decarbonisation across a variety of industries. With his latest venture, Statevolt, Lars is planning to build a 54 GwH battery factory in Imperial Valley, California.

The Statevolt project will focus on developing a new, ‘hyper-local’ business model for battery development, helping the U.S. create a self-sufficient battery supply chain. Before Italvolt and Statevolt, Lars founded Britishvolt in the UK.
