Roundtable #6
Old Town, New Chances
Transformation Means Opportunity. The cultural and social revitalization of historic centers can only begin with urban regeneration. The experience of the City of Cuneo opens the debate on methods, strategies, and future perspectives.
Historic centers are areas dedicated to multifunctionality: from services to commerce, and including tourist attractiveness and the often-overlooked role as places of residence. However, at the heart of the city, there is also space to experiment with new and contemporary ways of urban living. In this working session of Utopian Hours 2024, the redevelopment plan launched by the Cuneo Administration serves as a conversation starter to broaden the discussion on the transformation of historic centers in our cities. Two hours of dialogue with administrators, city makers, and experts to share best practices and valuable advice. How can we turn the regeneration of places into an opportunity to create an updated and engaging urban narrative? What strategies can attract more resources and envision new developments? And throughout all this, how can we integrate tourism and the management of public spaces for the benefit of residents? We will discuss this at the Friday morning table of the “International Festival of Cities.”
