51N4E is more than an architecture studio. The Belgian collective combines different working groups with a vast network of collaborators – a structure that is approached with the complexity of the present and that enables the production of knowledge with respect to urban transformation.

It is precisely knowledge and sharing that form the basis of 51N4E’s work. The bottom-up approach to planning and architecture finds in Brussels (whose geographical coordinates give the collective its name) only an initial starting point.

What strikes one is the young team’s philosophy, which is articulated starting from the concept of contrast in design processes: can one start from opposition to give life to new experiences and forms of collective coexistence?
